DC Wedding at the Willard – Sarah Sage Photography – DMV Wedding Photographer

When you think of a fairytale wedding, this wedding checks all the boxes. From beautiful weather, top-notch vendor team, hilarious wedding party, amazing families, gorgeous photo locations, delicious food and of course, the sweetest couple, Emily and Patrick’s wedding was just that – a fairytale.

Emily and Patrick met over 4 years ago and quickly found they shared a deep love for their families, their faith and furry kittens. They didn’t know it then but later they would become proud parents to Buzz and Winnie, two very sassy Persian kittens.

The proposal took place on a very windy day in January, on the waterfront in Georgetown. Since Georgetown was where they shared their first date, it was only fitting that Patrick propose there. Patrick walked Emily to a clearing by the water and dropped to one knee and asked Emily to marry him. She was completely surprised and, of course, said yes! Moments later, their families would emerge from their hiding spot, surprising Emily once again. One more surprise was in store because Patrick arranged for all their closest friends to meet them at Nick’s for an impromptu engagement party.

When it came time to plan the wedding, Emily and Patrick wanted an elegant celebration, complete with personal touches like Buzz’s face on the napkins and Disney souvenirs. The color pallet was a timeless spring mix of light blue, sage green, blush pink and white. It was the perfect choice because everywhere we went for photos, those colors were not only present but bursting into frame.

Emily and Patrick took their vows at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Georgetown, but not before having a quick first look in the garden. Each photo from the ceremony looked like something out of victorian painting. Up next, we hopped on the bus and went to several iconic locations in Washington DC; Jefferson Monument, the Federal Triangle and WWI Memorial. The photo of them walking up the steps at the Jefferson Monument – Wow!

We arrived back at the Willard Intercontinental in time for cocktail hour and a private first dance for Emily and Patrick. The ballroom was decorated perfectly by Patrice (Exclusively Events) and Michael (Willard’s on-site coordinator). The pink uplighting gave the whole room a very warm and inviting feel and that cake… Wow! The night continued with parent dances, heartfelt speeches and a surprise performance by Patrick’s band, The Darts. The dance floor was packed all night long and soon, we were off to the after party.

Thank you so Emily and Patrick for allowing me the honor of capturing each part of your journey. I feel so incredibly blessed that you chose me and to call you friends. I can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for you but I know it will be amazing. Give Buzz and Winnie a hug for me. 🤗

It may not have been the weather we were hoping for but that didn’t stop Christine and Robby from having the most perfect wedding day. So perfect in fact that their adorable puppy Arnold joined the celebration.
