Spring has brung! The beautiful floral colors and warmer weather are here to stay which means it’s time for some pretty epic images!

Julie and Jonathan are my awesome 2023 couple that just couldn’t wait to get their engagement photos done! They knew they wanted spring time at Silver beach but also a variety of locations and looks as well. After some serious brainstorming, we came up with the perfect plan… Garden, beach, and downtown!

They arrived at the studio first for hair and make up. How ironic was it that not only was it Julie’s birthday but it was Ashley’s (Ashley Urban Artistry) too! Double birthdays… must be good luck! 🥳 Julie felt like a celebrity on her birthday as Nidia (Blushing Beauty Co.) and Ashley did her hair and make up. Once she was ready, we laid their outfit choices out and selected the prefect looks for each location. I HIGHLY encourage this of my couples. Always bring extra clothes and accessories so we can coordinate everything perfectly which, in turn, make your images even better.

Julie and Jon hopped into their first outfit and off we went to the Japanese garden in Mishawaka. It’s a small garden that most people don’t know about unless you live near by. It’s super quiet and full of tons of color; perfect for photos!

From the first smile, it was easy to see that these two were naturals at being squishy! 🥰

The giggles were non-stop!

I love a good willow tree! Beautiful color and it frames them perfectly. 😍

No engagement shoot would be complete without Eskimo kisses and smirk look. 🤣

We drove back to the studio so Julie and Jon could change and then we all piled into my car to head to Silver Beach. It was the perfect shooting day at the beach because the sun was hidden, creating a beautiful blue hue all around the water.

You guys know I am not a beach person but these two made the whole day super fun and kind of like a mini vacation! You know you’re having fun when you can say that about your job. 🏖

 

The great thing about the beach is all the tall grass. It creates more visual interest and adds more color to the frame.

Julie complained that Jon’s nose was getting in the way. ⬇️😆

We left, covered in sand, and headed for downtown South Bend. While Julie and Jon changed into their final outfit, I photographed Julie’s ring. Since blue seemed to be the color of the day, I found a blue fire hydrant to rest the ring on. Strange object to use, I’ll grant you that, but it worked!

Julie and Jon looked like a million bucks so we had to make these final few images count. We first walked to the courtyard by the court house for a quick walk and kiss.

Then I had the idea of going on top of the parking garage to get the city scape. Love the blue sky… very Las Vegas!

Then we walked to the Morris Performing Art Center for a more romantic look.

To Julie & Jon – Thank you for an awesome day and of course, happy birthday Julie! I’m so excited for your wedding in 2023… I wish it was here now! You two are a ball to hang out with and I’m so excited to continue our friendship over these next few years! All my love – S
