Gorgeous Fall Engagement in Holland – Rachel & Pete – Michigan Wedding Photographer

If autumn had a holiday card, this would be it! Rachel and Pete’s amazing engagement session in Holland Michigan was like a good book you never want to put down. Everything was incredible, from the vibrant colors, unique locations and of course, the couple themselves. We had a blast from start to finish. 😊

We started their session at the studio first for Rachel’s hair and makeup. We talked all things wedding and their adorable dog, Moose. We then coordinated their outfits for each of the locations. I encourage my couples to bring extra so we can mix and match to make the perfect look. 🙂

Before the session, Rachel and Pete joined Grace and I for lunch. We stopped at this super cute restaurant, City Delicatessen that Pete had recommended. Pete lived in Holland during college so he knew where all the good eats were. 😉

With bellies full, it was time to start their session. Our first stop was Centennial park in the heart of Holland. The deep, bold colors gave us so many options for incredible photos. Just look at those smiles. ❤️

I love a good snuggle bench! 🥹

These two had the giggles for sure, especially when I told Pete to kiss Rachel’s hand. 🤣

Just on the other side of the bench was tons of tall grass that I wanted to incorporate because it gives the photos so much more texture and visual interest. And those colors, wow! 🤩

I’ve never seen a more fall photo then these! Perfection! 🍁🍂

Next stop, the Pillar church just around the corner. Rachel’s deep blue dress and Pete’s gray suit made them pop off the background. The pillars of the church gave each photo these beautiful leading lines. 🥹

Love these! ❤️

Gorgeous! 😍

After we finished at the church, we were off to Curragh, an Irish bar on 8th street. We found this cute table in the back where Rachel and Pete could enjoy their beverages and each others’ company.

But first I wanted to do their ring shot with their drinks. I’ve never seen whiskey in a martini glass before so I had to think outside the box (or glass lol) for this one. The curvature of the ring gave me a run for my money but we finally got it! I love this shot, not only because of it’s uniqueness, but also because I think it speaks to who Rachel and Pete are as a couple. Beautiful, unique, playful and warm. 💍

A toast to the future Mr and Mrs Stuckey. 🥰

After finishing their very yummy drinks, Rachel and Pete changed into their final outfits and hit the streets of Holland. We went for a stroll down 8th street where we came upon these large iron gates. I immediately thought, why not shoot through them! I love how they turned out. 😊

So cute! ☺️

Their smiles are contagious! 🙂

Our final stop was over at Kollen Park. The boardwalk looks over the water and made for the perfect evening location.

These two couldn’t be any cuter if they tried. 😍😍😍

When Rachel suggested a piggyback photo, I was all for it. These are always so cute and full of personality. 😊

❤️

Then a little dip by the water. 😊

The sun played hide-and-seek all day so we knew we wouldn’t get a sunset. No worries, I decided to play off the blue sky and create a bold contrast by lighting Rachel and Pete from above. It took a minute but definitely worth the wait. I love how it turned out! 🤩

The perfect ending to the perfect session! 😊

To Rachel & Pete – Thank you for an unforgettable day! You two are a dream to work with and I literally can not wait for your wedding! I know we’re going to have a blast on this wonderful journey to the alter! All my love – S
