Surprise proposal at Tippecanoe Place – South Bend Wedding Photographer

Last Saturday was filled with sunny skies, family traditions and a beautiful proposal in front of the historic Tippecanoe Place! Chessia & Daniel asked me to photograph their engagement party at Tippecanoe. They wanted to celebrate their future life together with family and a traditional South Indian Christian Engagement ceremony. Due to COVID, Daniel’s original plan of proposing in Greece on their vacation was stifled; so he decided to do before the party. He called me a few days before and we planned the whole thing. Chessia was so surprised! ☺️💍

After the proposal, Chessia went inside to change into a her sari for the ceremony.  She looked gorgeous!

Chessia’s mom helped her get dressed and they shared a special moment together. ❤️

We did a few portraits before the ceremony. The beautiful white and purple trees gave us a fairytale canvas.

The engagement ceremony is a promise you’re making in front of your two families that you are committed to getting married. They sign a contract very similar to a married certificate. Members from both families spoke and even though not everyone could attend, you could really feel the love and support Chessia and Daniel have for their marriage.

Chessia and Daniel did broadcast the ceremony via zoom to all their family members and friends that could not be there.

When the ceremony ended, everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch and dessert provided by Tippecanoe. The salmon… WOW!

We snuck away before dessert was served for a few intimate portraits on the beautiful staircase. 😍

Next we went outside for family photos. Chessia and Daniel bought all of their guests masks so we had to take a mask photo. Even though you can’t see it, they were all smiling underneath. 🙂

The future Mr & Mrs! ❤️

This photo ⬆️ is done all the time in Bali culture so Daniel wanted to throw it in. They couldn’t stop giggling! 🙃

These two made my job so easy. They just love each other so much… it wasn’t hard to get those natural smiles. It’s all them!

Once last moment under the arch to end their perfect day!

Chessia & Daniel – Thank you for letting me be apart of your magical day! Your families were so welcoming and you’re amazing to work with! Congratulations and I wish you all the best as you plan your stunning wedding at Castle Farms this September. – S
