Sarah and Lance’s engagement session was filled with love, whiskey drinks and lots of puppy kisses! They wanted to do something a little bit different when it came to the locations of their session. After a little brainstorming, we came up with The Hideaway in downtown South Bend and Saint Mary’s College (Sarah’s alma mater). Lance is a big whiskey fan and the two of them often spend date night at The Hideaway. To top it off, Cooper (their puppy) would be joining the session later at SMC! I couldn’t wait to get started! ๐
Their session began at the studio where Sarah got her hair and makeup done. We chatted about their June wedding and sipped wine. It wasn’t long before Sarah was ready and we were off to our first location.
The owner ofย The Hideaway was gracious enough to let us use his bar and pretty much have the run of the place. I slipped behind the bar to capture Sarah and Lance enjoying their signature drinks. ๐น
There was this leather couch in the corner that I thought would the perfect place for snuggles. Lance would sometimes over squeeze Sarah which made the laughter even better!
I hid behind a menu to make these moments even more intimate.
I had to do one shot where the glass of whiskey was the star. Even though Sarah and Lance are in the background, it still adds to their story. ๐ฅ
As we were about to leave, I saw this window that I wanted to do something with but wasn’t quite sure what. I tried shooting from the outside in but it was too bright for that to work. Then I had the idea to shoot from the inside with Sarah and Lance sitting on the windowsill. The owner was nice enough to let us move all the tables and chairs that were in front of the window. These are my favorite from the day! ๐
I told Lance to pick out his favorite bottle of whiskey so I could photograph the ring on it. The owner let me use an unopened bottle and then once I got the shot, he opened it and gave them both a glass on the house! Super cool! And I just love how this ring shot came out… Wow! ๐คฉ
We leftย The Hideaway and walked downtown. I love the reflection off these tall windows! It gives more visual interest and is just plain fun! ๐
AWE! ๐
A quick walk by the fountain and off we went to pick up Cooper!
Cooper stole the show! He was so well behaved and definitely enjoyed all the attention! ๐ถ
Grace walked around with Cooper as I captured Sarah and Lance in the big willow tree. The light here is gorgeous and you can tell these two were having fun!
A quick walk over the bridge to the island for another family photo! ๐ถ
Their laughter was contagious! ๐คฃ
This is too cute! Squeeze level = Expert! ๐ค
Cooper had to say Hi too!
As the sun started to go down, we hopped onto the bridge for our final few photos. Sarah mentioned how happy she was that she had found a guy to walk across the bridge with. โค๏ธ
LOVE!
