A Blue and Gold Celebration – Erin & Jack – Notre Dame Wedding Photographer

I have been looking forward to Erin and Jack’s wedding day since the first time we met! We ‘clicked’ immediately and I knew it was going to be an amazing, especially after their epic engagement session in Chicago! 😊

Erin and Jack met back in sophomore year at Notre Dame. Jack was Erin’s date for her dorm’s formal that year and they’ve been inseparable ever since. Erin and Jack both admire each other’s high aspirations and their caring nature towards their family and friends. 🤗

The journey to the alter started last February (2021) when Erin came home to a fully decorated apartment and Jack down on 1 knee. They wasted no time in planning and knew there was only 1 place they wanted to get married. This is Erin and Jack’s wedding day story.

Grace and I arrived at the Morris Inn and greeted Erin and the girls as they were getting their hair and makeup done. Grace photographed the gals while I started on details. I love their invitation suite! So classic and the gold envelope made for the perfect ring shot. 😍

I decided to try something different with Erin and Jack’s class rings. I stood Jack’s ring up and suspended Erin’s inside it. If you look at the blurred background, it actually has gold and blue hues, Go Irish! ☘️

Even more impressive was that I got the rings to stand up together, all on their own; no photoshop. I absolutely love how this ring shot came out. Every wedding, I try to look for new and unique ways to capture every moment, even the details. 💍

Perfection! 🤩

I left the girls to continue getting ready as I headed over to the guys suite. I photographed jack’s details and then we jumped right in!

The guys were eager to help Jack look his best for his big day. 😊

A little toast to the future Mr and Mrs Hegarty! 🍻

Jack’s portraits were next – Sorry ladies, this one’s taken. 😍😎

With the guys all dressed, I left and headed back to the bridal suite. The Morris Inn has the best light when it comes to getting ready and details. I mean look at that dress… Wow! 🤩

The ladies toasted our beautiful bride before hopping into their dresses. 🥂

As the bridesmaids got dressed, Erin shared a special moment with her grandmother. Erin’s grandmother gave her the wedding robe, a beautiful robe that has pieces from her mom’s and grandmother’s wedding dress sewed onto it. ❤️

Now it was time to get Erin in her dress. Her mom zipped up the back and hooked all the buttons while her grandmother helped Erin with her jewelry.

Such a beautiful moment. ❤️

Erin’s bridal portraits – Wow girl, you’re breathtaking. 🤩

Those faces say it all. 😊

Erin did a first look with her dad in the golden hallway. Then it was time to get married. 🙂

Ceremony time!

We had a few minutes before the ceremony to take this beautiful portrait of Erin in the vestibule. LOVE!

That moment when you see each other for the first time. Jack was holding back tears the whole time. 🥰

After opening prayer, the ceremony continued with two readings, the gospel and a very sweet homily.

Erin and Jack exchanged vows and rings. 💍

It’s official!!! 🥳

I think they were a little excited. 😉😊

The nuptial blessing and sign of peace.

Communion.

Erin and Jack offered a flower to the Virgin Mary in the Lady Chapel.

The final blessing. 🙏🏻

May I introduce Mr and Mrs Hegarty!!! 🥳

As the ceremony continued, we did family formals up at the alter.

Our awesome wedding party!

The newlyweds! ❤️

With the extra 20 minutes, we took full advantage of having the Basilica to ourselves. Including this jaw-dropping photo back in the Lady Chapel. I’m obsessed! 🤩😍

And this walking shot down the aisle. Such a fun idea and I’m so glad we had time for it. 😊

Erin and Jack exited the Basilica as their wedding party cheered! 🥳

Then they took a photo with all of their guests on the steps of the Administration building. 😊

We continued family formals outside. One big happy family. 😊

Then the boys and I walked to Stanford Hall (Jack’s dorm) for their hilarious photos. 🤣

Back in God Quad, the ladies were showing Erin some love. 🥰

Love the floral by Poppies! 💐

There wasn’t a cloud in the sky so everyone embraced the sun for a silly dome moment! 😊

Just to the right was the spot where Erin’s mom had taken a photo of the 4 girls over 13 years ago. Using the previous photo, we recreated the moment and the memory. ❤️

Now it was time for Erin and Jack to have some dome fun! These two had the biggest smiles on their faces. 🥰🙂

An instant classic!

WOW! 🤩 😮

A little wedding party fun in front of the dome.

Erin and Jack walked down to the Grotto to light a candle.

Their portraits here are some of my favorite of all time. The giggles were non-stop. 🙂❤️

As we were heading back up to the Basilica, we stopped on the steps by the Grotto for these veil swooping moments. ❤️

LOVE!!! 💕 💖 ❤️

And of course no wedding day would be complete without a veil swoop in front of Touch Down Jesus. I know the cover photo above is Erin’s favorite. 😍

Once last walk with the wedding party before cocktail hour. 😊

We made our way back to the Basilica for our final portraits in front of God, Country, Notre Dame door.

These two couldn’t stop laughing when I instructed Jack to kiss Erin’s hand.

I love the side perspective that Grace was able to capture. Makes the moment even more intimate. ❤️

And of course we absolutely had to do the ‘burrito’ photo. Erin and Jack loved this during their engagment session so it was a must-have moment on their wedding day. 😊😊😊

Love this so much, I can’t handle it! ❤️❤️❤️

So sweet. 🥰

As their guests enjoyed cocktail hour, Grace and I photographed the details of the Morris Inn ballroom. This is my favorite decor/set up of any wedding reception I’ve ever shot. The navy tablecloths coordinate perfectly with the gold backdrop and table accents. And that cake… wow! 🤩

Erin and Jack made a big entrance and then went right in and cut their cake. 🎂

So yummy!

The cake was taken away to cut for their guests as Erin and Jack shared their first dance as husband and wife.

Love the lighted backdrop. 😊

Before dinner, Erin’s dad welcomed all the guests and Father Sean said the blessing over the meal.

After a very yummy dinner, Erin’s 3 sisters gave a hilarious toast about how amazing it was when each of them came into Erin’s life.

Secondly, Connor, Jack’s best man, gave a heart-wrenching toast about how he’s always thought of Jack as his brother no matter how long or how many miles separate them. ❤️

Lastly, Erin’s dad brought down the house with his emotional toast to Erin and Jack. He said how proud he was of Erin and how perfect they are for one another; even with Jack’s Philadelphia accent. 😉

Erin joined her dad out on the dance floor for the father/daughter dance. 😊

Then Jack’s mom, Mary Kay, showed off her dance moves for the mother/son dance.

Let’s get this party started!!! 🥳

As the night was drawing to a close, I was determined to find an epic location for Erin and Jack’s night shot. I walked outside and saw the law school was all lit up. The gold hues in the windows, along with the deep blue sky, matched their wedding theme perfectly. I stole Erin and Jack away for just a few minutes to create this incredible memories.

First I had them walk under the arch and do one more ‘burrito’ spin and then I stepped way back to show the whole law school.

WOW! 🤩

I can’t decide if I love the close up or far away photo more… 🥰

Now that’s an epic way to end the most perfect day! 🤩🤩🤩

To Erin and Jack – I can’t thank you enough for choosing myself and my team to capture these amazing memories for you! I’ve enjoyed every minute of it and am slightly obsessed with your photos, lol! You two both mean a lot to me and I can’t wait to see you again soon for your album reveal. I know the Lord has big plans for you as you start this next chapter together. Love always – S
