Meryl and Chris got married at the lake, on the most gorgeous day in August. Meryl and Chris’ story actually begins over 4 years ago when they met online. They met up for dinner and drinks where they realized all the things they have in common. They’re both runners, huge Cubs and Blackhawks fans, they love being outside and spending their time with family. Chris loves how loyal Meryl is, especially when it comes to her family and friends. Meryl loves Chris’ kind heart and that he’s a true gentleman. This is Meryl and Chris’ wedding story. ❤️

The day started at Meryl’s family’s lake house on Lake James. They guys were enjoying the beautiful weather as they got ready for the big day. I photographed Chris’ details on the pier and then we jumped right into getting ready fun.

I left the boys to enjoy some lunch and headed over to the salon where the girls were getting their hair and makeup done. When we arrived, I photographed Meryl’s details and invitation.

I love how the rings fit perfectly inside the invitation design. So pretty! 💍

The ladies were excited to help Meryl into her dress. It was small space but full of love. ❤️

Our amazing wedding party and family!

Meryl and Chris wanted photos next to the tree that Meryl’s family planted so many years ago. This chapel has been a huge part of their family history. Many family members have gotten married here and it’s their tradition to go to Sunday morning service after a weekend at the lake house.

Ceremony time.

The ceremony began with an opening prayer and declaration of intent.

Then both mother’s light the candles on the alter and two scripture passages were read.

Meryl’s dad gave some heartfelt marriage advice during his sermon.

Meryl and Chris exchanged vows and rings. 💍

Then lit the unity candle on the alter.

Communion.

Final blessing and the kiss. 😊

It’s official, Mr and Mrs Behof! 🥳

Meryl and Chris greeted their guests and then we came back inside for family formals.

Their ‘getaway’ boat was waiting to take them to the reception. Very fun! 🙂🚤

Everyone hopped off the boat at the Potawatomi Inn and jumped right into pictures.

Such a wonderful group! 🙂

The light was perfect for Meryl and Chris’ portraits. 😊

We walked to the other side of the Inn for a few more intimate moments.

Reception time!

The wedding party entered the ballroom showing off their favorite Blackhawks gear. 🏒

Meryl’s dad said a blessing over the meal and then Chris’ dad gave a very hilarious speech about the first time he met Meryl.

As dinner was being served, Meryl’s brother, cousin, sister and Chris’ brother, all gave beautiful toasts to the happy couple. Micah said that Meryl is the glue that holds the family together. Kyle welcomed Chris into the special (and secret) family fraternity.

Megan thanked Meryl for being there for her and being the best aunt to her nieces and nephews. And lastly Tommy was so excited that Chris now had a new running partner that wasn’t him. 😉

Meryl and Chris then got up and thanked their guests and family for coming from all over to celebrate with them. There was a lot of tears shed. 🥹
